What is The Potters Wheel?

The Potters Wheel as it is known now was established in February 2003. Before this it was a small local pottery that distributed handmade pieces nationally.

It has since become a ceramics activities centre, offering painting, throwing and handmodelling activities.

We also have a section of the shop dedicated to selling contemporary ceramics work. Some is made on site and some is made by a few other local artists.

We see ourselves as a shop and gallery who are working towards bringing contemporary handmade pottery to a wider market, we would like to make this ancient craft more accessible to all members of the public and provide a chance to experience the art of ceramics and get a chance to buy some genuine handmade pieces.

We also realise that it is only in spreading knowledge about the art of ceramics that it will survive well into the future where further artists can enjoy its merits.

We provide a professional, well organised service for established potters looking for new outlets and we also welcome new artists and people who are trying new styles of work.We are always willing to give plenty of advice for those just starting out and would like to continue to grow as a wonderful base for new ideas.
